More about Latex foam. (Foam made from the sap of the Rubber Tree) Latex foam is also used to make masks, and facial Prosthetics to change a persons outward appearance. The Wizard of Oz was one of the first films to make extensive use of Latex foam prosthetics in the 1930's.

Back to mattresses. As I mentioned in my previous Blog, the Dunlop process type of Latex was the first foam used over the innerspring coil unit for good support and comfort, and its still used today to achieve the same results. Dunlop Latex is firm. Too firm for some. (Full core Latex mattresses have been made for many decades with no springs at all.) In the late 1940's another method of processing natural Latex was introduced called Talalay. Several steps are involved in making this foam. The results are a softer, more comfortable feel. In my 25 years experience in the bedding business, the use of both types of Latex in a mattress is ideal. Since Natural Latex foam has a long life, using Dunlop Latex under Talalay Latex gives you the best of both   worlds. Excellent support from the Dunlop, and great comfort from the Talalay.
